Algeria’s southern oasis areas have abundant sunlight but scarce grid resources, making traditional irrigation methods impractical for oasis agriculture. We supplied 18 sets of solar water pump systems for local oasis farmers. The systems consist of high-efficiency solar panels and submersible pumps, converting solar energy into electrical energy for water extraction without relying on fossil fuels. With a daily water supply capacity of 800m³, they meet the irrigation needs of date palm plantations and vegetable fields. Since installation, the solar pumps have reduced farmers’ irrigation costs by 90% and increased date palm yields by 35%. The system’s intelligent energy storage function also ensures stable operation on cloudy days, providing a sustainable water solution for oasis agriculture in arid regions.
